3 Reasons Why You Should Embrace Mistakes!

1. Mistakes make life real. We would all love if life just started, ended and contained only successes and accomplishments, life would be easy and scar free. Imagine life with no learning curve, regret and disappointment. Thankfully life is NOT scar free and actually our learning curve is our path and our journey. It is easy to beat yourself up after every minor or major mistake.  When we are aware of our mistakes we  are able to set ourselves up for success by learning where our pitfalls are.

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” -Albert Einstein

2. Mistakes humble you. They let you know that you still have growing to do. Mistakes keep you hungry, they fuel your desire to be a your best and to stay on your toes. Mistakes will keep you grounded and keep your ego in check. Make it ok to make mistakes, your work ethic will thank you.

“Never let your failures get to your heart and never let your success get to your head.”     -Unknown

3. Without  mistakes there is no wisdom. Mistakes allow you to put your wisdom to use and give real advice. Wisdom comes from experience and mistakes, not pages and  articles. Some of the greatest mentors and coaches have made tons of mistakes with their health, relationship, careers, personal lives, and finances – which is exactly why they’re able to speak in great detail about turning around a particular. Learn from your mistakes and share your knowledge. Someone else will thank you for it!

“Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment” -Rita Mae Brown

Our mistakes give us real and meaningful insight on who WE ARE, and why we do what we do. Mistakes give us insight into our habits of thinking, behaving and adjusting. We learn what our true strengths and weakness are. We learn what our truest and deepest interests and passions are. Mistakes add meaning, color and texture to our lives!  Mistakes are a true gift.  Make no mistake, it’s ok to make mistakes!

Hi Jeff, totally agree we should NOT beat ourselves up when we make mistakes. We are all flawed individuals. “Perfect” is not in my vocabulary! Just doing the best I can every single day.

  4. Yes, mistakes are neccessary for true success.
Those who have the most success haven’t made no mistakes, they failed more than anybody else.
I think mistakes have to be made to seperate those who just want to succeed a little bit and those who are passionate about it and give it everything they’ve got.

  6. Yes,totally agree with what you say.Every great person has sometime in their life made grave mistakes and learnt form them.
Once Mahatama Gandhi made a statement and contradicted the same after 3 days and when he was questioned by a reporter why he had done so ,Mahatma replied saying that he is 3 days wiser now as he had learnt from the mistakes he made.

  8. As a person who in the past had one fear (and one fear only)— the fear of failing. I have learned that “nothing beats a failure but a try.” If I should not do it right the first time, I have tomorrow to make it right. If I keep at it, I will definitely get it right, and even perfect it. Excellent Post!

  9. Thank you. It is about making a commitment to learn and move forward.

  14. Thanks for this. I used to always be afraid of making mistakes, but then I read somewhere that you can’t achieve success without having made mistakes along the way – so each mistake made is one step closer to success!

I was (and still am) one of those people who are terrified of making mistakes. A few years ago, I read somewhere that you can’t achieve success without having made mistakes along the way. Now I think of each mistakes as one step closer to getting it right.

We often think that the result of everything we do should be perfect, whenever we make a mistake we take it as something that can not be corrected when in fact you can try again until you get it right. To get to where you want to be, the path is not straight instead its a bunch of twists and turns. Don’t be afraid to take risks.
